Tiffany Sara Cornilia Haddish was born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, California. Her father, Tsihaye Reda Haddish, was an Eritrean Jew. Her mother, Leola, was an African-American small business owner, from a Jehovah’s Witness family. After Haddish's father left when she was three years old, her mother remarried and had Haddish's two half-sisters and two half-brothers.
