Shaffer Chimere Smith was born on October 18, 1979, in Camden, Arkansas, to parents Lorraine and Shaffer Smith, both of whom are also musicians. As a young child, he was raised by his mother after she separated from his father. His mother then relocated the family to Las Vegas, Nevada.
