Elizabeth Woolridge Grant was born on June 21, 1985 in Manhattan, to Robert England Grant Jr., a copywriter at Grey Global Group, and Patricia Ann "Pat" Grant (née Hill), an account executive at the same organization. She has a younger sister, Caroline "Chuck" Grant, and a younger brother, Charlie Grant. She grew up Catholic and is of Scottish and English descent.

On July 15, 2026, Del Rey announced in a post on Instagram that Stove was nearing completion, and that additional material had been compiled in a second "companion" album, made with multiple collaborators. The post included images of the artwork for two vinyl artworks, one for Stove, and the other featuring a boat named "Spyda", suggesting this as the title for the companion album.
